Management of long-term COVID-19 sickness absences

NHS Staff Council has now agreed joint guidance to help employers in England support staff on long term COVID-19 sickness absences.

Most cases of acute Covid recover within 3 weeks however the longer-term, potentially recurring, consequences, so called "Long Covid" are still poorly understood. The temporary employment terms and conditions in force from early in the emergency are clear on how acute episodes of Covid illness in NHS staff should be handled.
