ACB Training Day - Survivors guide to inborn errors of metabolism
9.30am – 12.30pm BST, 14 June 2021 ‐ 3 hours
Training
This session is CPD accredited (3 awarded)
The Education, Training and Workforce Committee are excited to present the programme for this year’s UKMedLab training day. The day is delivered as a series of interactive sessions, workshop elements and presentations from leaders in their fields with a focus on topics which are traditionally not well taught in textbooks or for which practical experience is required. It therefore offers a valuable learning and networking opportunity for trainees within laboratory medicine particularly those preparing for FRCPath examinations. We look forward to seeing you there.
The morning, delivered in a more traditional lecture format incorporating interactive elements, will be dedicated to metabolic biochemistry and delivered by members of the National Metabolic Biochemistry Network (Metbio.net).
Metbio.net is a group of specialist laboratories providing tests for the diagnosis and management of patients with inherited metabolic disorders across the United Kingdom. The network aims to provide the vision and national co-ordination needed to ensure that specialised laboratory services for metabolic biochemistry grow and develop to meet the needs of the national genetics, screening and healthcare agendas. This is in part achieved through provision of a specialist assay database, active participation in healthcare scientist training and education and provision of best practice guidelines aimed to help local non-specialist laboratories and clinical teams.

Join us from home for some fun and relaxation with ACB Scotland members Kevin Deans and Emma Dewar's legendary pub quiz! We suggest you head for home, put your feet up, get yourself some refreshment and settle in to pit your wits against your friends and peers. You can participate on your own, form a team with others in your household, or form a virtual team with any other UKMedLab21 attendees no matter where they are! If you’re forming a virtual team, we recommend getting your team organised before the quiz night, and making arrangements for how you’ll communicate with your team mates on the night (e.g. setting up a WhatsApp group). No CPD points on offer for quiz participation, but a feature on the cover of ACB News and a bottle of Champagne available for the winner. We look forward to seeing you there!
