FCS Briefing: NHS Staff Council FAQs on sickness absence collateral to Covid-19

08/09/2020 11:51:25

It is recognised that there are implications beyond the immediate consequences of Coronavirus infection or possible exposure, requiring self-isolation. A joint working group of the NHS Staff Council Executive has published (03/09/2020) a document containing answers to questions that have arisen around COVID-19 sickness management. These questions cover:

  • the impact of cancelled or delayed treatment on a staff member's ability to return to work and the interaction with sick pay and sickness triggers
  • pay for staff who are required to self-isolate pre and post operation
  • employer flexibilities around the use of phased returns.

The FAQ document can be found on the NHS Employers web site at:  https://www.nhsemployers.org/news/2020/09/covid-19-sickness-management-faqs
