Claiming Tax Relief on your ACB Membership Fees

06/01/2014 12:49:11

With the deadline for submitting self-assessment tax returns fast approaching we would like to remind members that ACB is on the list of professional bodies and learned societies approved by HM Revenue & Customs for tax relief on membership subscriptions. Therefore if you are a UK tax payer and pay your own membership fee then you may be eligible for tax relief on your yearly membership fee.

If you complete a self-assessment tax return then you will need to include your fees in your annual return. Remember that the deadline for online submission is 31st January 2014. If you do not complete a tax return then you can claim simply by writing or phoning your local tax office.

If you have never claimed before then you are able to make a backdated claim for up to 4 years. The ACB Office can provide you with a list of professional membership fees you have paid to the association.

For more information on both what and how you can claim please see the Tax Relief webpage – http://www.acb.org.uk/whatweare/joining/tax-relief
