Membership of the Federation
The Federation of Clinical Scientists is a none affiliated (to the TUC) Trade Union which represents all Clinical Scientists, including trainees, working within the NHS and related areas. The specialities include Clinical Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cytogenetics, Molecular Genetics, Immunology and Haematology as well as other Clinical Scientists.
Joining the Federation
If you are a member of the ACB you are automatically a member of the FCS. If you are not a member of the ACB, or membership of the ACB is inappropriate, but you are registered as a Clinical Scientist practicing Laboratory Medicine and would like to advantages of the trade union facilities of the FCS then you can apply for Federation membership. Amongst other benefits ACB Federation members receive advice and support in industrial relations cases (subject to having been an ACB member more than 90 days before the main substance of the case occurred), the monthly ACB News magazine and member discounts to attend meetings.
The 2016 fee for Federation membership of the ACB is £95.50, however those members who choose to pay by direct debit receive a £5.00 discount. There will be no increase to the subscription fee for 2017.
