Trainees' Links - Association and Journals

Associations

Royal College of Pathologists
My first thought on seeing the Home Page was "this looks interesting".
Well it got better! I found the site to be well set out, have useful links, current news and a sensible amount of pictures. The search facility works well. A plus point was the "Help" icon which gave some useful tips which would benefit newcomers to the Net. The two things I looked in particular were the Bandolier link and the Virtual Autopsy. I will certainly visit this site again.

The American Association for Clinical Chemistry
This is a basic association page which has details of the Association's meetings, Publications and Education contacts. An interesting feature is the CME Programme Planning Guide which is very comprehensive but inappropriate for Clinical Scientist working in the UK. A lot of the organisational infrastructure of the AACC is also portrayed on the site. A list of the AACC publications and other items for sale is also included.

Society for the Study of Inborn Errors of Metabolism (SSIEM)
This carries a wealth of information about the society which is a charity. However, does not contain very much information about Inborn Errors themselves. Although, does give some very useful links to sources which carry information about inherited metabolic diseases.

Journals

Some links to clinical biochemistry and medical journals are given below. However, many journals only allow non-subscribers free access to the contents pages and restrict access to the abstracts and full-text articles. It is worth trying to get to journals via your post-graduate medical library site (NHS staff) or university library site (staff and students) - they may provide on-line access to journals that they subscribe to in paper form. NHS staff may also have wider access through Athens accounts - again check with your post-grad library.
