"CSF Xanthochromia Logic Engine" by Mr D Burgess, Sunderland, UK

Enter the absorbance readings after a spectral scan, i.e, NBA and NOA and the CSF protein, plasma T Bil and TP. The logic engine then applies the appropriate comment. The spreadsheet returns interpretative comments to the xanthochromia screen, and is a logical use of the existing National guidelines for analysis of cerebrospinal fluid for bilirubin in suspected subarachnoid haemorrhage. It is an attempt to remove the confusion and complexity of decision making in this area. It is not a substitute for a critical analysis of the spectrophotometric scan and should in all cases yield a similar result to informed intuition.
