This prize was first introduced at the Focus meeting in 1989 in Birmingham, when the Birmingham based Nycomed (UK) Ltd wished to contribute something extra and different to the members. The prize is presented to the best Clinical Case(s) poster.
The competition is open to all members displaying posters at Focus meetings; posters are selected from those asking to be considered on the Abstract submission form.
Judging is performed by members of the Clinical Laboratory Investigations Scientific Committee of the ACB, and is based on the appropriate nature of the case(s), the scientific content, impact and approach and the quality of presentation. The main prize presented each year is the Oxford Textbook of Medicine.
