Media and Communications Training

Much of the work in delivering messages and raising our profile will be undertaken by members of the Association and it has been recognised that they will need help and support in doing that. An important element of that support is training to give an awareness of how the media work, how to deliver technical information to non technical people and how to present the key elements of technical material in an understandable form that will appeal to the public. A budget has been agreed to provide three levels of training over the two year period:

  • Awareness Overview – to give a basic understanding how the press and media work and how best to communicate with them.
  • Presentation and Drafting Skills – to develop skills in communicating and delivering technical information in an interesting and understandable way in both oral and written forms.
  • Full Media Training – to equip a small number of people to act as public “ambassadors” for the Association. This will include practical experience of radio and television interviews in both friendly and “hostile” contexts.
