In September 2005, Health Minister Lord Warner launched an independent review of NHS pathology services
The aim of the review was to identify the scope for further modernisation and improvement and was published in August 2006. Building on the Review Panel's findings and recommendations, the Department of Health is launching a programme of pilot projects around the country. Lord Carter has been invited to oversee this work and you can keep up to date with its progress via this page.
The latest timetable for the second stage of the review can be accessed here
For pilot sites, the Royal College of Pathologists Carter Review Closed Discussion Forum can be accessed here
