ACB Clinical Practice Section
The ACB Clinical Practice Section aims to inform the healthcare community of the essential relevanceof clinical biochemistry and its value to patient management, and of direct patient care being providedby Chemical Pathologists. The section also strives to encourage best clinical practice within the profession, supporting moves towards national harmonisation.
The Specialist Interests Division collates knowledge about a wide variety of medical conditions and is increasingly active in ensuring that this knowledge is easily accessible to clinicians in ways that are most beneficial for patient care.
The Training, Education and Academic Development Division promotes training in clinical aspects for all clinical biochemistry trainees. It considers how best to integrate clinical biochemistry into modern medical training. It also works to enhance the relevance of ACB training courses for medical trainees.
The Professional Affairs Division acts as a focus for professional support for medical members of the ACB and proposes candidates for National Clinical Excellence Awards.
Membership of the CPS is open to all ACB members: medical graduates joining the ACB automatically become members. There is strong regional representation on the section’s steering group, which meets regularly.
